New Life Chinese Laundry was established in the 1950s in downtown San Diego. It has been at the current location since 1961. We are one of only three Chinese laundries left in San Diego. At one time there were over 100.
New Life was owned and operated by the same family who founded it until the owner, Peter Hui, sold it in 2002 to Tom Tran, who was raised in Vietnam but is of Chinese descent. Peter still lives across the street and volunteers in the laundry most mornings.
